The Toronto Theatre Organ Society

TTOS response to the Public Health advisories concerning the novel coronavirus / COVID-19 Pandemic.

The TTOS and the Toronto Silent Film Festival will be postponing both the Festival and our Spring screening to probably the second weekend in June - June 12 to 15.

Please check back with this web site for updates as we respond to the evolving Public Health advisories.

Since our intention is to reschedule and not cancel, ticket sales will still be available.

Tickets already purchased will be honoured on the new date once finalized.

Refunds will be available soon if a rescheduled date will not work out for you.

A Warm Welcome to one and all - whether attending one of our events for the first time or returning as a loyal supporter of many years.

Your support and interest is greatly appreciated - and essential to our future efforts on behalf of the ongoing history of the theatre pipe organ!

The Spring screening is a double bill - two romantic comedies - The Doll (1919) - directed by Ernst Lubitsch - supported by Getting Mary Married - (also 1919) - starring Marion Davies and directed by Allan Dwan.

The TTOS is proud to present these silent films with our Presenting Partners, Roncesvalles United Church and The Toronto Silent Film Festival.

The 2 for 1 screening of The Doll (1919) and Getting Mary Married (1919) will be presented at the Roncesvalles United Church - not at Casa Loma.

The Roncesvalles United Church is located at 214 Wright Avenue - at the corner of Roncesvalles and Wright.

Please click here for a map with directions to the Church - located just east of High Park.

Street parking near to the Church is limited to free parking on the side streets and meter paid parking on Roncesvalles.

The Roncesvalles United Church is nearest to the TTC Subway stop at Dundas West Station. The 504 TTC King Streetcar stops on Roncesvalles near to the Church.

A Note to Patrons

We continue to work towards a solution to the loss of access to Casa Loma and our Wurlitzer for concerts and silent film screenings. At this time, the Wurlitzer remains in situ and we hope that in the future we will be able to make use of it for concerts once again. In the meantime, we are looking into alternate solutions to providing theatre organ concerts once again on a theatre pipe instrument.

We will keep you informed on our progress.

We value your continued support at this difficult time.

The Toronto Theatre Organ Society was organized in the mid-sixties to rescue Shea's Wurlitzer from almost certain extinction when it had to be removed from Maple Leaf Gardens. The Society is a nonprofit all-volunteer organization whose aims are to promote an appreciation of all theatre organs and to bring together people who share this common interest.

By preserving and maintaining Canada's largest Wurlitzer and presenting concerts and silent film screenings that feature the theatre organ, the Society seeks to keep traditional memories alive while introducing a new generation to the musical wonders of this amazing instrument. Our Volunteer Members regularly give their time to maintain and improve the organ and to produce, promote and present the Society's annual concert and silent film season.

Please contact us if you would like to join us as a volunteer.
